First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

Cool JR... Sprays are good.

A little on CX genetics:

CX a broiler/meat bird bought from a hatchery...

The baby of a CX and another CX is known as a "frog".

A baby from a CX and another breed is known as a "toad"...

There you have it the entirety of CX breeding.

It should be known as of this point in time, "frogs" are mythical creatures. "toads" exist.

Yep, I'm totally trying for naked neck toads and/or New Hampshire toads in about a year, if all goes well. Gotta get me some toads!

Yes!  If they squat a little they are getting there.  Deep squat should be egg in 1-2 weeks. At least that's my observation with my hens.

Just small squats right now, but I am getting so excited! Now DH expects the rent from them soon. He said they have free loaded long enough. But honestly I know he thinks they will never lay. On the breeding thing. I will probably get a Toad or two. But I think FROGS are defiantly in my future. Now I need a CX roo. DH would just die if he knew all my chicken plans. I even been baby sitting to raise funds for a chick order. Hehe.
