First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

Red Nugget- I have seen it happen once or twice.  Only when it was really hot.  BUT keep an eye on her.  Make sure she keeps drinking, eating, etc.  Is Herb back?!  I thought he suffered a golden retriever fate...
I must be misremembering what you said.

Daskhan- Get well soon.  Did they have your blood work back and say go home?  Or will send the results to your family doc?  It can take a few months for your thyroid to actually show up as an issue in blood work.

Jessica- 10 days with family?!  Waaaaaayyyyyy too much for my taste!  Glad you are able to get back to your regular routine... as grueling as it may be!
I promise, I didn't drink all the vodka!  I've been enjoying sangria lately.

So, last night, I am sweating to death cooking dinner and my daughter comes in and is so very proud of herself.  She told me she put all the birds away, got them all into the coop before they wanted to.  Even turkeys.  I think, hey, this is great!  Tell her thanks for helping.  Never thought to double check.  She is nine.  Pretty capable.
ALL the birds are out this morning when I get up.  Sigh.
I wonder what "I put all the birds away" actually meant.... Anyhow, just glad the fox didn't show up last night!

No Herb was the one the dog ate. His Bill was deformed from a previous encounter with a dog. And We found the upper part of the Bill when I helped her clean up they yard. I was just reminiscing. And as for the heat. It never got below 85 last night. And the heat index stayed in the 90s all night. So that it probably the reason for vomiting this morning. It will usually get down into the low 70s at night. And for the last few days it's it haven't cooled off at night or with rain. I guess it's just cumulative for them with a body temp so high. They are also ok right now and getting a bath in soon. Frozen watermelon for treats at lunch time.

You whiners!!

Pull yourself up by your boot straps!

Summer is great...... Learn to enjoy the warmth.  Why do you think we should suffer in the horrible cold, just because you guys cannot handle a little heat.

Learn to enjoy a Mikes!

If you wish the summer shorter I will pick up Holm and drive him to your place, then you will have BOTH of us to contend with all winter long. He will need lemonade and I will need cases of Mike's supplied by you.

We would not be pleasant being away from our birds!

Whiners.... Come on now. You can't say you don't wish for spring when its below zero for weeks. And no end in site. And I'd let you bring your birds. But it would cost you a CX roo. I got to start my Frog experiment. And I get to come up their for the summer. Remember I am truly off my rocker. And MEDS only work at home.

Yea, the heat is a killer today. It is already 75 degrees and not even noon yet. The humidity is high too pushing 65%!

The evenings have been great though down into the 50s!

As far as I know they made me wait till blood work was finished and then said go home... Idk I think it was basically because they figured I was no longer an emergency and a family doctor was more appropriate idk really maybe I should just schedule a doctor visit

Follow up doc appointment is always a good idea. Especially when you have been having consistent symptoms. Good luck and feel better!

Ralph- did you train the Toads, or do they just not have that same innate drive towards food?
I know Pearl never needed to be kept from the food once she was in the main coop, but I assumed she learned better eating habits from restricted feeding. Then again, Sunny had to be kept away from the feeder somehow, right Jessica?

I think they just picked them up from their mothers genes.

Sure is hard to type, with a turkey in my arms!..

What day do you think we will have her spoiled by? She crawls out of her box now to be held,,
