Im hoping to have meeting at freezer camp with at least 12of these guys in another 9wks

@Dave C- I also have white bresse and have access to the label rouge chicken :) the guy that breeds them lives on the western slope of Colorado.

I got all male cornish x broilers from Mt Healthy, and out of 75 chicks only lost 2. But 1 was the misc heavy breed roosters they sent, they are not quite keeping up the growth rate of the broilers, but some of them are, which is surprising me, but they are just 2 weeks old yesterday.

They are starting to really go through the feed though. I am feeding all organic non gmo non medicated gluten free 23% protein chick starter I have custom milled for me bt the 1000 lb pallet 60 miles from where I live.

I've been thinking of getting the new unrelated white bresse line gff has now, as I've had a batch hatch of my white bresse with a lot of early unexplained deaths and the 2 that lived, my rooster has feathered legs?! I know mine are very inbreed and it does show!! I'm also thinking if getting giant barbezeuix (sp?) From gff.

I do have crested cream legbars f3 and f4 and svart honas and ayam cemani from gff that I spent not as much as I could have, but more than I wanted to.

Oh... I got 2 new kittens guys!!

and these are the cornish x broilers and misc heavy breed roosters they included. IDK the breed, maybe orpinton, cornish? Idk.

I like to rest my birds for 2 days in the fridge in brine before packaging them to freeze. I use sea salt, sugar, garlic, peppercorns, a couple qyartered onions, hot peppers, maybe bourbon in a big tub of water to brine in my fridfe. It makes them tasty as well as allowing them to rest.

Ralphie- where did you get your turkey bags from? I need to order them now b/c my turkeys and ducks are going to freezer camp very very soon!

Dang, I was thinking I was reading the Minnesota thread when I gave Holm that little jab.  Sorry. that was the thread someone was commenting on what sex some of the posters were, based on the nicknames used.      Most to the posts I read from Holm are on that thread. Sorry I got lost as to where I was.

Interesting birds, Dave.   The top one looks like my production reds, but larger than mine at those weights.

The bottom one looks like a black sex link. Amazing how different the chickens are across the world.

He's only 16 weeks in the pic, so has plenty filling out to do.

What other breed did you use in the creation on Burt Jr ?
