First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

Well it turns out I was confused. On the Ideal website they show not currently available on all their laying breeds but when you click on the meat birds it allows you to put in a quantity so I thought they were shipping. When you go to check out tho it says not shipping until 6/1/16. I checked the box to be notified if they could ship earlier. I'm guessing they just don't know what production will be in the winter months so won't commit to a ship date.

That is weird!

A hatchery not sending birds in early spring, would seem to me to be a hatchery not wanting to stay in business.

I actually contacted Ideal a few weeks back to ask about this very topic. I was told they won't take orders on most. Breeds until January. Some won't ship til February or later

I think sometimes Ideal doesn't like to make promises. You can always put your name on the waiting list if you're prepared to get called early. Like WAY early. I put my name on the waiting list for Naked Necks for Fall, 2016, and I got notified in August that I could have them THIS fall if I wanted. (That's why I got them instead of the CX meats this fall - switched the order.)

I figure the majority of their birds come from small independent breeders.And they have no definite way of knowing exactly when production will ramp back up

I'm sure there are some that are only accessible part of the year - I just thought I'd give the heads up that if you put yourself on the waiting list for something, don't always trust the ("not available until...") date onto website...

I can ship you "Toad" seeds right now!

Just heat them at 99.5 degrees for 21 days and you will have a meatie!!

Of course I can only send 1 a day at this time as my supply is limited.

LOL! I don't think I could grow any seeds, I don't have those skills. I'll wait for Ideal. I may see if they have any for pickup if the shipping is the problem. They are only 3.5 hours away from me. Really not urgent tho, only thinking about it because I've started feeding my mastiff raw and she eats 3 lbs per day!
