Our internet has been down!!! A huge wind storm took it out, then it snowed a foot and stayed below freezing. The "internet guy" finally fixed it... just in time for below zero temps and more snow!
Anyhow, yes, vodka fixes everything. But I am not particularly picky. If I do not have vodka, I will gladly consume whatever spirits are available.
Ralph, I love a little peppermint schnapps in my hot cocoa!
On the topic of hard boiled eggs. Fresh ones don't peel for *bleep* (that was for you Ralph
). I steamed them once, and ice bathed them. It seemed to help. I've also heard baking soda in the water helps. Haven't tried that one yet though. I will next time try the knife method! Those suckers should scoop out like a charm!
Jessica- It took Pearl 3 or 4 days to get the idea of where she was supposed to be and do once we put her with the big gals. Your chicken chasing evenings will be over soon, I imagine!
So, with the cold weather here is a funny story about my chickens:
It was beautiful out, minus the wind, before the snow. All the chickens left the coop and were doing what they normally do. It got chilly so they went under the deck out of the wind. Dusk came upon us and I went to lock up the gals. They were not in there. Not a single chicken was in the coop. All 8 were under the deck.
I figured I could lure them with scratch. They normally come running when they hear it shaking in the can. Nope. Not even a single budge. After about 15 minutes of sounding like a lunatic, "Come here girls! I've got some yummy scratch for you! Don't you want to come out and get warm?!" all in syrupy thick sweet voice, I resorted to a belly crawl under the deck. Mind you, the chickens love it under there. There is poop EVERYWHERE! There is barely enough room for me to slither in there. I had a stick. It was a 3 ring circus.
Once everyone made it to the coop, they have decided to never leave. Not even go outside in the run. They are boycotting snow.
