I may have to switch it up next meat bird round! Or more likely, since my chicken math is so honed in, do both! Just for comparison reasons... of course.
On the breast note, I read (yesterday when I googled them) their, ahem, cup size is bigger than a Freedom Ranger, but smaller than the queen of cups CX. That would be perfect.

I see you are from Vancouver Island.. we are headed up that way this summer! Such a beautiful place! My husband proposed in Victoria

Yes I don't think you can go wrong with the MGs. I'm glad Victoria has lovely memories for you

It's great living on the island except when you want to fly anywhere or buy anything! Enjoy your visit here when you come!

Holm- Your turkeys are so pretty! Your EE too. Chickens are so funny.
Now for names... I really like naming things!
Casper for the lighter one? Betty White? Ooh, Sofia and Dorothy? (Yes, I love the Golden Girls) Cagney & Lacey? Lucy and Ethel? Laverne and Shirley?
I suppose I should ask if they are pals or not really.

I will check back, I have to take the kids to school... even though it is freezing and snowing. I'm sure they will be out early today.

Holm Morning!

Do you have an Ethel yet? Everyone needs an Ethel.

I think the bottom picture looks like an Ethel.

The top one I am pretty sure is an Edith.

Now my problem, Rick does not appear to be rough on any birds. However, Rick is a pedophile, he is always trying to go into the coop with my chubby little babies. For some reason he is attracted to one of them. I have run him out of that coop a few times. He is always sitting around and chewing the fat with Bert. I have never actually seen him get on the girls.

I really think the culprit is the guineas! The barnyard Mafia is made up of mainly guineas. I really like them in the summer. I was hoping to raise enough young this year to be able to eat them next year. I was told they are mainly dark meat. However, I may forgo the middle step and send all of these to freezer camp.

I am in a quandary. I did not know I would need a separate cage/kennel/prison just for guineas! As soon as spring comes I will be building them one. So in about 6 months they will be locked up.

I am going to town and see if I can find some blue Kote to put on them, from what I have read it helps stop feather pulling.
I may try to find some peepers and put them on every last damp guinea I own.

MM Very clever of you the way you hid your nasty words...... I give you the Ralphie award for that!

PS. I thought you should all know spring is almost here it is finally a nice morning, sunny and a balmy -10!

Rick the pedophile. At least he has the decency to wait until she is "18"...

Do you think one of your male guineas (are they called a rooster?) is trying to get busy with the wrong gals? It just seems weird that it is the exact same spot on all of them.
Hopefully the blue kote works!

I have no idea what will work, as researched further, I am holding back the blue kote. I read the dark spots, from the blue kote, actually encourages pecking in some flocks. I bought a huge block of bird seed, hopefully that will occupy them.

The guineas have no decency, so who knows what they are doing. I am thinking of moving them as soon as the weather gets a tad warmer, maybe sooner. I will put them in the east half of the CX's coop. They have no window there and will get little sun, but who cares they are convicts anyways!

I have a chicken door there, but I need to put a net over the area before I let them out. I do not feel like freezing my flanges off for them.
