First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

Haha! He brought home Chinese take out, not a new feathered friend for me. Well... it was already butchered and covered in some delicious General Tso sauce with baby corn and cabbage.
He really just tolerates me having chickens. And kind of tolerates the idea that I am adding turkeys to the flock!
He is more excited about the goat coming this spring.

Personally I would worry about any guy excited to have a goat coming.......

And on that note, for our last anniversary my wife wore a big bird suit and...... ( wait, brb I have an incoming call from a BYC censor).. BRB

Speaking of my husband, today is our anniversary. I have been sitting on the computer for over an hour just perusing BYC and laughing at all the great posts on this thread. I have a great meal planned, and even got all things prepped and ready... I even have been so kind as to open and test out the wine. Just to be sure it was going to go well with dinner, of course.
But I was having a hard time tearing myself away! What is a mildly late dinner anyhow? The kids can have a snack.
As I was rushing myself to finish my thoughts here, he called.
Guess who is bringing home my favorite Chinese take out?! Best husband ever. Dinner tomorrow...covered. Minus the wine. I'm sure it will go bad if I just leave it overnight.
Happy Anniversary!

I have dishes in my cupboards again instead of under the beds and in the couch cushions. I can buy ice cream and actually get to have a bowl. It's crazy fun!

And, then there's the bungee cord kids. They just keep returning... I can envision having an empty nest some day. By then, hubby and I will be REALLY old!!! But, yeah... to be able to clean a room, and have it stay that way... all day long... I can't imagine it!

Am I the only one who thinks a a picture of eggs is pretty??? Maybe I am just weird.

The white looking ones are actually blue. Are chickens have started laying a lot more eggs now that it has been warm out. Ralph have your birds started laying again???

Our incubator came yesterday!!! SovI set it up and three some duck eggs in it temp has been at a steady 99 to 100 degrees. So hopefully we will have some ducklings around the 17!!

You guys have to stop saying what you look like. I had it all thought out now I gotta think again...

Ralph do your turkeys ever challenge your car our tom was today and he just would not stop.

Guys I'm soo eggcited about my first hatch.

Same recipe, different techniques used. Because yes, I need so much pound cake.

Oh my goodness! I love egg pictures and I just hear ka-ching when seeing those beauties! Of course, I am looking at going into the egg business full time. So that makes sense.

Thank you for the link Ralph. We are planning moving-type structures for the laying chickens. Why? You asked earlier how much land we have. Only about 1 1/2 acre. However, we live in an area where many people have open. empty, unused pasture. See what I'm getting at? Think on it while you enjoy your Cranberry Hard Lemonade. Those are yummy by the way. A favorite of mine when vodka is unavailable.

Double Kindness: So happy to have you back!! I have been wondering if you were okay!! Please keep us posted on the incubating eggs and I would totally munch up that pound cake if you were near me. Yummy! As if I need more pounds. Life's too short to care about that stuff!

I was told recently by someone that used to raise 100's of chickens that I should have a big tom (turkey) raised with them for protection since I had the hawk attack. Ralph, I know you have toms, what does everyone think of this idea?

Jess about the tom that's a good idea ours just start screaming when they see a hawk or eagle. Geese would work to. Toms will try breed your hens but maybe get your tom a few girl friends.

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes!

I also love pictures of eggs! Even before we had or wanted chickens, I received a coffee table type book of unusual chickens and eggs. It was one of my favorites to just thumb through. Of course, now it is in a box somewhere in the garage... awaiting its eventual release when my husband converts the garage into his office/library. Not that we are fancy at all and require a formal library in our home, we just have a TON of books.

DK- I am glad you are back! Your pound cake looks great! I made banana muffins yesterday... I usually make them just for my kids so I use regular flour. But yesterday I decided to convert the recipe to GF. Oh my, am I glad I did! I ate... well, certainly more than necessary!

I can't wait to see pics of all the hatching babies!

And yes, Jessica, I think you need a tom! But then again, I have turkey fever.

Yesterday we got another egg! It seems so silly to be excited about eggs again. But I tell ya, when those girls stop laying, it is exciting when they start to pick back up! Our Salmon Faverolles is the only one laying though... and she seems to be on an every couple of day schedule.
Ralph- have your gals started laying more yet?
