First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

I was outside for most of the day today.First time since getting sick.Temp was over 100 humidity a meager 25%. Wasn't bad.lol. what caught my attention was my meatballs playing keep away with the other chicks. Running full tilt from one end of the pen to the other. I know they are hot,I misted water more than once today and kept a large area beneath an oak wet. They like lying in the wet cool dirt. It really surprises me how active they all are in this heat.

They sure are active little buggars when raised right. I open a lid then get my feed for the cx's. They swarm when fed. Tonight for the first time I had 4 of them jump/fly to the top of the panels and sit there. One flew away and I had to run him down.

I find it fantastic. My birds are 4 weeks old and some people are planning to process them already and complain about the birds being lazy and I have to run mine down and avoid the stampede when I let them out in the morning!

Mine are 6 weeks old and the Cx can easily fly 3ft off the ground. And they are hilarious when they take off running. Reminds me of when a pro tackle or guard accidentally ends up with the football. Seeing something that big running kills me.lol

That is exactly what it looks like!
When Pearl was full grown and would get all excited about something, she reminded me of the hen in the Disney cartoon of Robin Hood when they are playing football. Cracks me up still thinking about it.

Thanks Ralph, I needed that book to set me straight.

That is what Bert Jr. looks like when he runs. He is so much more active than a bird his size should be, He looks like a lumbering dinosaur when he runs. I have never seen him try to fly, but that would be good!

Always willing to help!

I am betting whatever is inside that book, would be years beyond me... There is probably a rocket science or nuclear bomb making book for dummies too..
