the Saipans. I call them the Dino chicks

I was getting a little disappointed with my slow broiler, the tetracycline has made a huge difference in their behavior. There a few of the hens that are almost as large as my White Giant hens. That came as a shock when I noticed. The broilers, stay in there own little cluster.lol

That's a long neck!

Question for you cold weather folks. It's supposed to get into the 20s at night with snow this week, which is unusual for where I live. The shed I have for my meaties to sleep in at night is not insulated -- it's just plywood. I'm assuming they will be just fine as fully feathered 10 week birds. Right? I'm going to put down a deep layer of straw.

I am getting down into the single digit every night. My Meaties live in box, made of plywood with 2 open doors. each opens into a tractor that is wide open to the elements. They do fine, actually do better than when it is warm out,

Ok, I think I'm going to go for it. Here are the averages for where I live

I'll keep them in the barn for the first few days, then will move them into the meatie coop I built out of plywood + attached run, this has a natural floor but I'll put a bale of hay in there. They will be allowed to free range during the day. I'll start with an order of 25 so it is a full box when they ship from Ideal, hopefully they will keep each other warm. Maybe they will think it is a MN spring day. :)

I have to go put some finishing touches on the coop so I can order with an 11/25 ship date. I need to go back and search how long to keep them on starter and when to go to a grower, what % protein and how much to feed per chick per day.

As soon as I butcher the slow growers from welps I will probably order another 25 CX. Which reminds me,need to order the freezer bags.

Would you rather just have my extra? I don't know what to do with them they are getting big and I tried craigslist they all want me to process them an I don't do that

Edit: I just noticed your in Texas so not sure you want to get them

Sorry Daskhan, You really need to rethink the processing.Your set up is top notch. I know you'd be really satisfied with the processed birds. Send everyone to movies, and have fried chicken when they get home
