I can mange the weights fine until it is 20 below and I need to leave them feed for a couple days. Then it is all over.

Even if I was home in the 20 below stuff it is hard to manage their feed.

That'a why I keep my adult kids living at home...cover their expenses, first rate insurance, and a new vehicle for my son. (Daughter likes her old beater).

Dave I had to look up your chickens:) blue leggers, right? Bresse? I don't think what we have here in the states exhibit the size of yours:(

The White birds are the blue leg Bresse but the brown Poulet Galoiuse are a hybrid slow broiler bird for free range that's what I am starting with.
I had a chance a few years ago to buy some CX parent stock which are smaller and healthier than CX but produce the real deal, could kick myself now for not buying them as a Rooster over any breed would of produced a good meaty meal.

one of my broiler hens is wheezing and an occasional sneeze. quarantined her and put her on tetracycline. The roosters have beat her down pretty badly. give her a break for a week or two,let the antibiotic work.
