First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

@Holm, I named the surprise "Elvis" if I get ANOTHER. surprise I will call HER "Elvira"

I love looking at the CX chicks. They already have that classic broiler look.
all together, right now I have around 100 chicks, some pure.some hybrids (heinze 57) I've also got two incubators full of eggs. I just can't help myself. I keep wondering, what will this one with that one look like??It's a numbers game. I told my wife past experience has taught us there WILL be losses to predator no matter how hard I try to keep them safe. Then there are all the EXTRA males to deal with.until they are mature,I'm NOT SURE if they have that "something" I'm looking for.
Case in point, right now I have 3 barred rock cockrels, one from hatch has had minimal tail feathers, but he is tall.Another has his height AND tail feathers. Since I CAN'T (won't) eat feathers, that leaves the last one.Not as tall, but he is wide.Named him "Roho"
I've got him in a pen with a broiler female now:)
