Double Trouble, my golden Sebright, is having a hard molt at the worst time. I had to bring her inside last week. No head feathers, no tail, and her stomach is all pins. Poor girl.

Her molt may not look as bad as others, but her timing is awful. She decided to wait until our 1st "real snowstorm" of 10" which was followed by below 0'F temperatures. Another 4-6" tonight and then it will drop to single digits for the next week or more. I think she may have done this on purpose. She doesn't have the hardy winter build of larger chickens so she must be a house chicken. She is enjoying the higher protein feed, mealworm treats, and evening TV in the family room.

Just look at that 5 o-clock shadow down her neck!
... and the naked keel bone.
