First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

One of the marans had exceptional leg length. Out of three roosters,only one had the correct color and build.

OK...I've seen Marans. Nothing about them show me that kind of build...perhaps something way back in the genes just clicked. I'd like to have it here as well as the Barred cross!!! Great looking bird.

I'm hoping they are hens. If they are...they will get crossed with the saipan. Probably end up with a bantam.lol Totally unpredictable results

The only thing I can come up with is a throwback on the maran side. None of the other breeds used at the time had the makeup. I take that back,I did have dark cornish.

The birds have very yellow legs like the broilers. If they throw a feathered leg it will be conclusive

I'd also like to add that the marans were ebay eggs. No telling what was in their actual makeup

Lol try picking one of them up off their roost at night-- Do you get that classic gamefowl squawk outta them? Much more panicky noise than most other chickens. Ebay eggs makes anything possible.

My broilers don't like being picked up either....normaly ends badly for them.lol
