I did keep the smallest CX .. she has been courted by my roo.. no eggs yet (16 weeks old)
no kidding, geese, that makes so much more sense now! I'm up in the 180% range and I feel much better now :~)Well. the rules are flexible for figuring the hatch rate.
Any egg that is mailed and hatches is worth 2 percentage points.
A mailed egg that hatches is not figured into the formula ever.
An egg that travels in a vehicle, even if 10 feet, does not count unless it hatches then it is 1 percentage point.
Any egg that you throw out before day 20 never counts, on partridge you count eggs after day 16.
Any egg that explodes is not counted. It does give a 0.1 % increase to every other egg in the incubator due to the trauma they endured.
Now if the eggs is off color from the rest in the incubator another 2% bonus is added if it hatches.
I they hatch a day in the week ending in a Y they get 2 more points....
If they do not hatch on a day ending in a Y they lose 5 points.
If they hatch south of the mason Dixon line they get another 3%. If they hatch north of the Mason Dixon line they get 2% plus 1% for the cold.
A good hatch should have a rate around 150% or so. It is not uncommon for someone good with the rules to get 200% or better.
I hope this helps.
Only in TEXAS !!!!Chicken math. Im starting to see a correlation between people that raise chickens and people that own corvettes.
Smooth off the rails...
