One of the neighbors dogs killed a few of my chickens. Unfortunately I didn't have a safe shot or it would have been dog gone.... Spent 400$ at TSC. Bought 750 lbs of feed and a new fence charger. The fence charger isn't as strong as I wanted (18 joules) its only two joules rated for 50 miles of wire. Got the fence ran, plugged it in then checked to see how far it would throw a gap...much too my suprise it will jump over a 1/4 inch with a very fat blue spark. I dread the moment when I inadvertently touch it.lol

3 done today and it only took me 1 hour. Tomorrow is the remaining 11 and then clean the neat habitat so the 10 day olds can get ready to move out there in a week or 2. Once grass comes back that is. These cx are good size, I think it will only take 2 to feed my family.

Well,Im happy to say the electric fence has had the desired effect I was hoping for. Two dogs Ive never seen before tried it out. I could hear them squealing for two blocks. :) It's STILL raining.....

Dr.Ralph, have you considered AI? The Cx rooster I saved is getting positively HUGE. I have serious doubts as to wether he can do the deed. The three hens are as massive as he is and I'm thinking one of the hybrid dark cornish should be able to cover them. Just not real sure which direction would be best.

I have considered it, but it seems gross and slightly perverted to me. However, I will reconsider right after you practice it on a pair of gators.

I am "thinking" about it for Berts grand kids. You cannot believe how huge they are. The males might kill the hens if I do not separate them.
