First, Second, Third and on and on Incubator hatch help appreciated

So we had our fun taking pics of light colored silkie eggs. We will see in time how we do with some off the darkest eggs out there
You'll be able to see the air cell....and probably little else.
Have done many a wellie, marans, EE; hard do see much in most of them.....
...compared the little white ones.
Tho some of the ones I see in your bator don't look really dark.
Time will tell...Best of cLuck!!

Yes phone lightened them up some. also they were a bit cheaper being close to end of there laying cycle. This should play to our advantage.

Well we set some Welsummers and Marans today. We will start turning tomorrow. We picked them up from a byc member about 2 hours south from us and airsack a firm. We're hoping for a great hatch out. :clap good luck!
Duck eggs are the best to candle, silkies are great too though.
I've only ever incubated 4 Marans. 2 were BCM, very dark shells, 2 were blue/birchen, a little lighter. I couldn't ever see veins, but could see mass once they were about 10 days in. 2 didn't hatch, 2 did. One male BCM, and one female blue. I'm still waiting for her first egg. 27-28 weeks old! :D

We have 4 BCM and 2 welsummer. There @16 weeks now and 2 welsummer are roos and 2 bcm are roos. So hopefully lots of pullets in these eggs.:fl
We hatched those under a hen and had set 18 eggs under her.
We also sat 18 eggs under a broody hen 6 days ago. They are from the neighbor. This Ameruciana(?) has been broody for a little over 6 weeks and we have tried twice to break her in a jail and 5 times dunking her in ice cold water. She broke us and so we acquired some eggs for her. Those chicks will go back to our neighbor once she hatches and is back to being a normal chicken. We have had the worst luck with broody hens ever since mid summer, just one after another. We tried to introduce her to some silkies and she wanted nothing to do with them. The funny thing is, she isn't even our common broodys like our buffs. They will probable wait for her to hatch then one will go broody. At least with our luck.

Here are candling pics from day 6. Oops a day early. towards the end of candling the fan started to make some crazy rough noises. over the night it got worse. The fan would lock up shut off and come back on and repeat. I called brina sea as the open Monday Morning. The sent me a replacement overnight. New fan installed today at noon. temps dropped for a little over 24 hours due to lack of air movement. I did crank up the temp but still measure a low temp on the tops of the eggs. We are hoping that wont be a issue. Time will tell. So here are the pics..................................................................

so as suspected no egg were thrown out yet. Its very hard to see the blood vessels but there was a lot of movement of what appears as black dots and shadows in the egg when the light hit them.
