I understand Scott, but keep a watch on the 24-hour auction thread here this spring. Sometimes extra eggs come up that folks let go cheaper, just to save from tossing them. And byc folks seem to pack and ship better than ebay, FB, etc. I won't do shipped eggs from anyone outside of byc. Just a thought.
Yes I was sort of thinking that especially since I wanted sermas more olive eggers and brahmas and I cant find any of those local.

But the whole 24 hour auction thread has me totally confused I have read and re read it several times then reread it and I'm totally lost so I barley look at it and look at what others are selling. lol Ill look again

I will watch . We still want sermas, olive eggers and brahmas. And I can seem to find any of them local worth our time. I have great resources close (2 hours down 2 back) for Marans and welsummers. and a couple show quality birds toward OK and KA and here in MO and AK. all are 4 hours or less. little peddlars also fairly close but a little out of budget right now.

The 24 hour auction has me baffled. I have been reading it here and there for a year and am as lost as the day I read and reread the 1 post. I probalble have read that post 20 times and understand it then jump to last page and am all confused again. youd think I'm blond. lol

All you have to do is bid a dollar above the last bidder, until the auction closes. Last/highest bid wins. It's really easy. I sold some serama eggs last week for $10 plus shipping, but it's better than throwing them away! And i have more eggs than we can eat or feed back to the birds right now.

Serama. Oh shoot. I missed that. I have heard they are hard to incubate that is the only reason They are none in the incubator right now. wel Im headed to check that thread out right now. lol Thanks

They can be a challenge, such tiny eggs and they have a tendency to quit late, or not be able to break out on their own. But mine are not show quality birds yet (working on them), I have more B-C range sizes, and they do seem to hatch better. feel free to pm me if you feel like trying some. I'm getting 4-7 eggs per day now.

Thank you for everything you have done. You have really helped us along in our first few hatches and that has been a blessing. I will be pm'ing you later, well much later as It is starting to show signs of fall here and I need to build a lot of structures for all these newly hatched birds we have had this year. And while I'm at it I need a few breeder pens set up for some maturing roos and for our hatches to come starting early next spring/late winter. Never enough room when we are hatching and hatching more. lol Next year we will focus on acquiring the breeds we still desire, adding new birds to our laying flock and building up the marans, welsummer and silkie flocks for show. silkies are part of our daughters 4h project.

Mainly I'm thinking of hatching or getting roos for the lines I want to keep in the layer house like OE, Amerucana(?), EE, Buff O, reject Marans and reject welsummers. That should keep our eating eggs a colorful doz that is why I can get 3 bucks more a doz than the local tan eggs everyone else around here sell. Sounds crazy but yes I get $5 a doz where almost everyone else is at $2. My trick it always the same, Offer up a free dozen and then they come back smiling asking for more. Not one single complaint so far. And not they are not organic, just Farm fresh free range. Oh I also charge $6 if I don't get a egg carton back. Then they usually end up bringing our back and one from another guy in town. lol

Ok I have what should be day 14 pictures. From what I can tell air sack seem ok? Some eggs seem full. Some big veins some little veining. Temps at 100.7 ( which by testing should be in the 99.6-100 range) humidity has been a little higher than I cared for 30%-35% seldom lower and we running no water.
At 14 days we have 12 left. 2 are regular silkies and 10 are the frizzle, sizzle, naked neck frizzle or sizzle.
We only took pics of the good ones. the ones discarded were clear at 7 days and still clear. We did not have anymore quiters this candling. The 2 different air sack tracings were from set and day 7......

Yes the do to us too. that why I did not bother putting in any rice to try in pull humidity down the 25-28% where we had it first hatch. I m not to sure we shouldn't raise humidty to slow there growth.
Scott

Well, you're gonna be cranking it up in just a few days anyway, so I'd probably just leave it now, or if you bump it up, just do it a little.
