(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
New-ish. We had chickens when I was a kid. Now, I’m retired, living on my own slice of heaven, and have added chickens as my first hobby farm residents. (Goats will be next, after I get the barn up next spring)
Starter chicks arrived yesterday. I have already unblocked one pasty butt and have a couple more with little messes but their vents are unobstructed. I came here to read up on treat vs keep an eye on. I decided to join because this seems like a good place to get information.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? And (3) What breeds do you have?
Right now, I have 17 Buckeye chicks brooding in the garage. My outside pen still needs a gate and sunshade, but I have a few weeks to get that squared away.
