Hey, Brahmamama4, I think I've run into you before, but forgot to ask where you're located? I'm in Anacortes about 75 miles north of Seattle. Like you, am loving the Brahmas. I think they're going to be beautiful hens. I am also drawn to the Speckled Sussex breed and may try to add one of those to the flock some day. Big, fat, pretty hens. That's the breed they had in the petting zoo exhibit at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. They used to incubate eggs so the kids could watch them hatch and hold fluffy butts. I was told that they sell the chicks. May contact the zoo to see if they are still doing that.

I live in Vancouver that's just a couple minutes north of Portland, OR. I haven't heard of the Speckled Sussex before, but I'm a total newbie at chickens so that doesn't surprise me. I've been to the Woodland Park zoo before. I mostly just remember the peacocks being everywhere
