Hi Everyone!
I am new to chickens and just have a few right now. Currently keeping Rhode Island Reds, and also one who is part Wyandotte, part... ???. Also present are several cats, who are quite interested in becoming part of the flock. Unfortunately for them, their coop membership is still pending. The girls had a private meeting one night in the coop, and came to a unanimous decision that "The Feline Territory" would be reclaimed as "Chickenland." The gals have resorted to flapping them off with beak and talon ever since! If only they would put up the white feather of peace already...
In addition to the cats and chicks, I keep freshwater fish, and have a nice sized aquarium (which often serves as entertainment for the felines).
I found out about BackYardChickens while doing research to become a better "mother hen" for my chicks. The flock also lets me know how I'm doing... does yours? I'm really interested in what everyone has observed about chick behavior, language, habits and so on.
