First time broody…introduced chicks…help a flock momma!

I love letting hens raise chicks naturally! Yours seem really happy. Last year I hatched 3 mix breed chicks in an incubator and 2 Serama chicks. They lived in the brooder for a few days but then I realized I had a bunch of broody hens so why not slip the chicks under them? The mothers accepted them all and did a great job raising them.

I'm so glad that she accepted the babies. I tried this last year but babies were too far grown to accept hen for their momma.

That was my fear, but they all seem to be happy thankfully. I did. have the brooder box set up just in case.

Good to hear glad to hear a success story I had to brooder raise them ! I already had 7 new chicks! But it's good now all are laying . I think next time I'll use fertilized eggs.
