First Time Broody - Progression Post

With the broodys ive had, the first chicks have ALways begun to hatch on day 20, & most all have finished hatching by end of day 21. Rarely there has been a straggler hatchee on day 22. But in vast majority of cases, any eggs that havent hatched by day 21 never do. Ive always read that broody eggs usually hatch earlier than artificially incubated eggs, & in my experiences that has definitely been true.

no, still only the one so far. she didn’t get off the nest at all yesterday and ended up pooping in it. She’s doing fine otherwise, a little cranky whenever I check on her lol

so. sometime this morning, Nelly’s chick had fallen out of the nest and couldn’t get back in, so she got off the eggs to be with the chick. i was at work and wasn’t checking on them, but my dad was. he checked her around 9 something and saw that she was off. instead of putting her and the chick back in the nest, he put a heating plate over the eggs and never thought to call me to see what to do. I got off of work at 2 and found out then. im not happy but my cousin brought over an incubator and we put the remaining eggs in that. they’re probably dead, I don’t know. candling is too risky now with how far they were. we’ll see
