First time broody turkey, advice needed

Thanks. I tried to see the egg but my hen has it under her chest puffed up.
She keeps clucking every so often.
Just a bit ago she puffed up at me did a cluck and click.
Put a coat and glove on and slowly and carefully reach under to feel for the egg. Normally when my hens start talking it means a poult has hatched. But if all the other eggs were infertile, it is more likely a rotten egg.

I had a broody hen sitting on eggs for aver a month. I took some eggs out from under her and candled them. Nothing. So I took the rest away and replaced them with 3 newer laid eggs, waited a week and candled those. Again nothing. So I ended that experiment. I suspect that 2 toms spend more time fighting and posing than f------. lol
One will have to go.
My question is, I happened to notice that she no longer had a snood. The other hens all have theirs (maybe an inch long). There doesnt appear to be an injury or infection, so I was wondering if it is some sort of fat reserve for when they are on the nest?

Just like a hens comb shrinks when she is broody, a turkey hens snood shrinks when she is broody to look less attractive to the tom. This will reduce the possibility of any unwanted attention.
