Hey everyone, we just placed our first ever chick order online. We bought from McMurray's Hatchery. They seemed to be a great hatchery and I've heard some good things about them.

I was wondering if any of you guys had any reviews on them? My chicks will be delivered from August 26th - 29th.

I ordered the following:

Blue Silkie
White Silkie
Blue Laced Wyandotte
Rhode Island Red
Black Polish Bantam
Silver Spangled Hamburg

I just bought an order back in June, and I am very happy with the service and the health of my chickens. Out of 16, one did pass within the first week. The hatchery reimbursed me without any problems or hastles. I am very willing to order from them again. The Chickens I got are also very friendly. I have played with them every day, so this is what greets me every time I sit in the coop:

I am very happy with the order, and even the rare chick I got is the brown easter egger I named Bandit (pictured above).

The top hats are fun to watch grow. Did you order straight runs or sexed?

Thanks for the info. I ordered all females except on the bantams i could only order straight run, so I guess we will wait and see what I get.

I've ordered from them quite a few times, usually in the spring, and been very happy with them overall.
I've had five of the six breeds you ordered, pretty happy with all of them. The silkies were good sized and they sent a lot of blues, the BLRW tend to be splash though not blue, the RIR are good layers, the hamburgs are also quite good layers but the spangling tends to run dark. It's always fun to see what they throw in as the free chick. Good luck with your chicks.

JFreeman, I believe that is what is called being over run by chickens. btw, I love their speckled sussex, they are the friendliest birds... looks like yours are the same way.

Out of all of them, the most friendly are the Houdans and Sussex. I think I may have too many chickens. I just now realized I'm missing a Houdan, and I have no idea when it happened.

Edit: Yeah, I just went out and counted my Houdans after last night's epiphany. Turns out I am not missing any. One of them is just a bit camera shy and is currently nameless.

Glad the missing Houdan showed up, or came out of hiding. Poor girl must really want a name if she won't talk to you, are you playing favorites.

Black Polish Bantam
Meant to add, have always wanted to try these, have never gotten one in the clean legged bantam assortments for some reason. They look really cute.
