Hi all, I am collecting my first chicks on Wednesday - 2 Lemon pekin Bantams (Just under a week old)
Obviously I'm super excited, the brooder is all set up and they will be moving into my 12ft x 6ft avairy once old enough!

So anyway I have loads of questions but here are a few...

Chick mash - I read that chicks can be raised on chick mash (scrambled egg, finely chopped spinach & breadcrumbs) Is this ok?

Grit - I also read that childrens play sand was ok as chick grit? I have a huge bag in the cupboard so would be great if so.

Any advice would be really appreciated!

There are a lot of good articles on this website about brooding chicks. I'm brooding my first batch of chicks following their advice.

The best feed is commercial chick crumble, not a homemade mix -- it's precisely balanced by nutritional experts to keep chicks healthy. :)
