First Time Chick Parents, Spring 2016

Why do you put leg bands on the chicks? I've seen them for sale but never know purpose other maybe for showing?

I just do them so I can easily tell them apart at a glance. That way I can track who does what, etc.

ahhh Okey doke. That makes sense. I'll think about it as we have multiple chicks from multiple breeds. Thank you.

We have 7 of one breed, all the same color, and then the 6 silkies, so they've been very helpful lol

They love to come out of their brooder to see what everyone else in the house is up to! We were told that they are pullets. Any thoughts? First chick momma...

my new BCM babies. I have chickens but have always purchased laying pullets. This is the first babies I have ever had and they are as cute as can be but also a job. I'm hoping for three hens but one is already looking like a roo. Pics are loaded a couple of posts below this one.

If any of them have white bars that are about 2x thicker than the others, it's probably a roo thanks to barring genetics.
