Been researching, talking to friends with birds, and lurking this forum for months before ordering 5 chicks from Meyer Hatchery. Received our little girls last week..sharing a little bit of our process and hoping to use this forum for years to come as we raise our little flock..
Planning to keep them inside for a few weeks so here’s the brooder we made with a 3ft long 2ft wide plastic tote and our little babies on day one..
Feeding chick starter from TSC, used probiotic the first few days and now a splash of apple cider vinegar in their water.
They’re a week old now and all seem happy, active, and alert..one has a little trouble pooping sometimes and the start of pasty butt almost but we have been running her vent underneath warm water and blow drying her and using some Vaseline to try to help her out..she’s seems to be doing better last few days, she’s happy and active other than always having a dirty backside..
