Hi! This year I started raising chickens (6 Black Laced Golden Wyandottes and 4 Light Brahmas) for the first time in my life. I’m documenting the whole experience every step of the way in movies on my YouTube channel, to share with other first-time chicken keepers, and also with anyone interested in free ranging backyard chickens. I was so worried about predators that I’m raising a ‘guard goose’ (a White Chinese) together with the chickens. They are now 16 weeks old, and my latest movie (where they’re still 15 weeks old) is about a typical day in their lives and the way I take care of them day-to-day. I welcome comments and suggestions, and hope you will subscribe to my channel! You can find the playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzpRtzi9vOkPN3jckn_EwC6xGWpSEXPmF

I watched a couple of your videos and your hens are lovely :) I am a little worried they will run out into the road though!
Thank you, yes they are! And the rooster crowed for the first time just the other day! They run all around the house, but have never set foot in the road yet. I think they go to the end of the driveway to find grit (even though I supply poultry grit), but they haven’t shown interest in running out into - or crossing the road. And our goose is so wary of the road that she tries to stop us when we want to cross ourselves! So I think she’ll discourage them.
