First Time Egg Candler Scared!

also anything special or different from chickens for brooder, when should they start to swim?
Most ducks are 28 days incubation w/lockdown at day 25. I believe the temp is humidity is around the same, (you'll want to double check) but most people "mist" their eggs at least once a day. I have not hatched ducks, but there's quite a few threads on here about duck hatching.

DO you think I should open up an egg and just see if anything was developing?
If you have several that look they same and you think they aren't developing, I would open one to check. This is what I did the first time I started to candle and had a lot that didn't develop (only 3 of ~30 developed - we were given the eggs and we knew some were old and all had probably gotten too cold).

I will, i will leave them alone untill day 10 and then candle and see what is going on, I know it was nothing I did, just some stupid eggs.
Are you sure your light was bright enough? I couldn't see vein until I got a powerful light. My undeveloped eggs are also yellow instead of a brownish red.

My light is very strong, I candled with several different flash lights, even if I saw no veining by now I should have seen some mass forming. When I went to candle one just now I dropped it and it cracked, so I opened it up and it looked just like a egg from the grocery store. :( , I will just order some online this time. Thanks for all the help everyone.

Yeah, the pic you put up, looked pretty much positively clear. Hope you can find some good fertile eggs to incubate this next time around.

Find someone locally on craigslist selling chicks and see if they will sell fertile eggs. Cheaper, and better hatch rates than shipped. That one in the pic was definitely infertile. Sorry

Ugg sorry man. I would go local if you can. It looks like 12 of my 13 shipped eggs are not developing.
