My silkie hatched her first chick today. She left the poor little thing on the floor of the coop so I had to unexpectedly set up a brooder for it. It seems to be doing well now. I think it’s lonely because he keeps peeping and running around like it’s looking for friends. My silkie is currently sitting on 2 other eggs that should also be hatching soon. After she left the other one I don’t trust leaving them in the coop after they hatch. I’m debating on moving the mom and unhatched chicks into the brooder until the new little ones are born. Is this a good idea?

I'm assuming mom left to eat. It takes a few days for the chicks to find their legs so he probably couldn't keep up with her. My hens will normally leave their pipping eggs and newly hatched chicks for a few moments before they return back to the nest. I think if you gave him back to her, she's be a good mom.
