Hey everyone! My goose eggs are expected to hatch tomorrow, but now I’m wondering if they’re still alive. This is the first time I’ve made it this far with live goose eggs and 3 days ago my incubator didn’t shut all the way and got down to around 80 degrees for a few hours. It doesn’t help any that it’s pretty much impossible to see inside them at this point. Anyways, I have some pictures and I would love if someone with more experience could tell me if they still looked alive / see veins still. I circled what I saw, and is the far right a beak? I can’t tell lol. I read somewhere that the veins will dissolve if the chick died but im not sure. The day before the incubator got cold I saw one move, but now the eggs seem to dark to see any shadows at all!! Any help is appreciated. Thanks :)

I wouldn't worry too much about the incubator cooling down in the he last few days of incubation. Think of it like the goose grabbed a bite, went for a dip, wandered around grazing... She can be off for 30 mins and the eggs are outside and it's barely 60*. Eggs have their own energy ( heat) this late too.
I would expect a larger air cell if you just have a few days to go. Don't be surprised if you are not seeing anything before the weekend.

I didn’t think of it like that, it’s good to hear :) yeah, I’m not sure exactly when they were laid but I was told they were laid about a week after another batch was laid, and the other batch hatched a week ago!! It’s not as small as it looks in the picture though, I think the angle I took it looks even smaller. Thank you lots :)

Another question, should I be going on lock down? I thought they would be hatching in a few days but if the air sac looks too small should I be turning? They’ve been moving around in the eggs pretty good but that’s all, no noises or anything.
