First time hatch started last night! ??

Again, not to make you feel bad, but porous eggs hatch just fine all the time. And I never toss an egg until day 18 (and then only of it is absolutely clear! I mean looks just like one I was just putting in. ) cause yeah, some eggs you think you can see in... You sometimes don't ... Like you found the hard way.

Thanks for the info...it is such a learning experience and there is so much out there that it is difficult to know what is correct and what is not. Next time I will know!

Day 14!!! All 11 are doing good

The air sacs looked good and the weight lose is one. They are losing between 2 to 3 grams per week depending on egg size. The chicks are all moving about the egg and growing the egg is getting pretty dark now. About half the egg is dark.

I should see chicks in 7 days

I also ordered 16 bantam chicks and they ship wednesday so they will be here at hatching time! Boy chickens are addicting I must be crazy to have possibly 27 chicks in my house

11 in lockdown

Oh I am so excited for the next few days! Wish my babies luck. Will post pics once they hatch.

First chick hatched! I watched and it was amazing. My daughter was at school and missed it. One has had a small hole for almost 24 hours. I see it still moving and the new chick is kicking it all over. Tomorrow hopefully more will hatch and she can watch. No school I am sure, it has been freezing rain for six hours and gonna change to heavy snow tonight. What a great thing to do in a snow day.
