First time hatcher

Hi. All the eggs seem to be doing fine! They are on day 12 now, but today I candled them all like always, and I saw one egg with a dark, thick vain going from fat end to skinny end (up and down). On the end of the thick vain, there were smaller veins and I saw the chick moving. Is this sort of like a blood ring?

Anyone hane an idea? Thanks! I'm just to nervous and excited about these babies hatching! Lol!

Blood rings mean that an embryo was growing but has died. If you see a blood ring, there won't be movement, because it's a 100% sure sign of death. Sounds like healthy veining to me.

We have a problem: this morning the temp was between 100 and 105! I turned it down and when I got home the temps was between 95-97. I turned it back up and am keeping a close eye on it! I just candled and saw movement in all 9 of them. Does this mean the temp didn't hurt them? I surely hope so.

Try not to make hugh changes in temp. do only small changes. what kind of hatcher do you have? Remember the hens get up and down off the nest everyday so the eggs do get cool and warm off and on. As long as they do not get too terrible hot or to terrible cold for very long they will come through. They may hatch a little early or late. BE Patient!!! some of us only come to the site every other day. What day are you on?

I have a 1602n hovabator. Just now the temp was back up to 100-105! Ugh! They a on day 13 and I'm worried!
