I got 6 fertile eggs from a coworker that I'm going to put under my broody silkie. She's been broody for almost a year (I'm seriously not kidding) and I've yet to run across a fertile egg from my own eggs. I have 3 white leghorn eggs and 3 Japanese Bantam eggs.

I plan on putting the eggs under her today and letting nature do it's thing. Will she get up to eat and drink? What do I need to do to help make this a successful hatch?

I have a hen sitting on some eggs right now. I have to take her out whenever I feed them. she will eat and drink one she should go right back to her nest. I think she will be fine. as long as she's not being pecked by other chickens.

She'll probably do exactly what she has been doing for the last year that she has been broody. I've noticed that different broodies handle it very differently. Some have to be forced to go eat and drink. Others will take a regular break twice a day, and you don't have to worry about them.
