First Time Hatching Anyone With Me??

Sad news.

I took the egg with the bloody pip out. It was leaking what I think was yolk. Took it out quickly, went to the bathroom where I had the shower running very hot, steamy. the chick did make a good hole, all the way through the membrane. But it was dead.

Yolk sac partially absorbed, fully formed.

Dang it!!! i think that if I had acted quicker I might have been able to save it. But you never know.

I know I should just be happy that I have healthy chicks, but dang it I am still sad.

I'M BACK!!!!! I was out all morning but am back now and reading everyone's posts about all their pips, zips, and chicks! Let's keep it going!!!
I am sorry to hear about the little one you lost, Kathryn.

Hang in there, girl! I believe that's part of incubating, you're going to lose some along the way for whatever reason.
I'll keep posted!!

I couldn't stand it, I reached in and moved the chick egg that pipped in the middle of it's shell out of the egg carton and onto the screen of the incubator. Someone on here said they did that and the egg hatched quickly after repositioning it. It was staying exactly the same and I just hate to allow the chick to die without doing anything. Four have hatched and they are very cute. Fluffing up nicely.

Meanwhile, one of the $$ black marans eggs looks like its pipping to me. Of course, it could be wishful thinking and hallucinations. Hopefully this will be the start of a trend with the rest of those eggs and I will have a bunch of FBCMs start hatching out also.

Geez, just saw this. I am sorry for your loss, but you were very brave to try.

I wonder if I should help my little pipper along also? I am not seeing any beak movement anymore. Maybe it is already too late....

8 of 10 of our silkies hatched. . .one pipped through the air sack and never got any further (his belly was all bulged out and bloody?) I think he was too big to move. The last one I opened up and it had stopped developing long enough ago that it was kinda smelly. . . .I think it's pretty awesome that 8 of our 10 shipped eggs hatched!!! Just for all of them to develop as far as they did is great.
