Im first time hatching as well
Im using the old brower incubator that i got for $100 i dont know if its worth it yet but it holds 100 chicken eggs
so far i put in 12 eggs on 03-10 and 6 more on 03-11 and candled first set and there is signs of chicks in all of them
my temp for them has been around 99 to 102f but the humidity has been staying around 30 but seem to get it up to 50
I have 5 adorable healthy chicks, and 13 eggs that did not hatch. Twelve of the eggs that did not hatch are the FBCM eggs I bought on Ebay (I bought 12 + 1 eggs on Ebay). I do not know exactly what went wrong, and I don't know if I am going to bother opening up the eggs to see what went wrong because I have a new incubator (bye bye LG) that I will be using from here forward. I am going to put in a practice hatch with mostly back yard eggs, and (do I learn?) some new Ebay eggs (NOT FBCM) the end of this week! I can't help it, it just adds fun to have some new and unusual chicks to look forward to!
I am dissapointed in the hatch rate, but it was a learning experience. I am glad I hatched at least one chick from the Ebay eggs - and that chick is even more special since I had to help it hatch. It seems healthy and is fluffing up well. I hope it's a hen because I would hate to eat it in 5 months - my $40 chicken dinner.
On a final note, I went ahead and ordered 20 LIVE day old French Black Copper Marans which should be here by next Saturday. Next year I will hatch my OWN eggs.

Oh my goodness I think that little ducky might just be the cutest thing ever!! I have been thinking about getting some duck or geese. I love both.

Congas on the 5 chicks!! So glad you got at least one chick from the shipped eggs. I understand about not being able to help getting more eggs to hatch!! I have found some lavender Orpington hatching eggs locally.
