First time hatching Button Quail!

You'll get addicted quickly.

Does your brooder have a lid? If not, you'll want to rig one VERY soon. It doesn't take long before they can fly out. I came home one day and thought I saw a mouse scurry across the floor. Nope, it was a very lonesome ten day old baby button quail. It let me scoop it up and put it back with the others, LOL. Hadn't been out long enough to get chilled but BOY was it happy to go back in!

i used a washcloth ,folded it kitty corner,then in half . at the top by the fold i made a"head" by tying a piece of yarn and formed a "neck' with it.The remainder came out shaped somewhat like wings and my chicks like to snuggle under them... They also like "fake fur" yarn . i crocheted some "octopus-like legs" from some and b/c it's feathery textured they seem to realy like to cuddle up with that ....just a couple ideas

I agree w/Rozzie - You will need a top of their brooder very soon. Those little boogers can fly at a very young age.

Right now they dont have a lid, but I'll get one on soon. I don't want to loose any!

BTW, I have 4 babies now!

They will be fine for a few days but when they're 3 days old they have their wing feathers and they can fly like eagles!
