Well, I didn't bother candling mine, there are so many and it doesn't take long to hatch quail eggs. Compared to my ducks sitting for over a mmonth. But if you have a small LED light (a really bright small flashlight) you can shine it through the top of the egg (without touching the egg) to see if it shines through. If it does, then nobodys' home. If it doesn't then you have a fertile egg. But you still don't know if its still growing. So what's the point. I wait.
But not this time, info is for next time you hatch. Ours are locked down now so no opening the incubator. Besides, the hatch is eminent. We'll both find out today or tomorrow what we have. I like anticipation, as long as there are no eggs exploding. I have not had that happen with chicken eggs. But I almost did with a duck egg, once. I just had to see why it didn't hatch, I tapes it and it poped all over the place and stunk to high heaven. Snow White, the mother duck) was probably laughing at me. I know she left that egg in the nest just to get me.
