First time hatching - day 20

Day 20 and my eggs are under my broody silkie. Shouldnt I be hearing peeping? I am so anxious for them to hatch already. Do chicks ever hatch in the middle of the night? I don't want them to be un attended to in the coop. When should the litle guys start pipping already?!

Patients... It so easy for someone else to say...But you are the one that has to wait.

They can hatch at any time of the day or night - The mother is there with them to look after them until you wake up.

Miizki - This is our first time hatching too. Yesterday was day 20 for us. Went to bed last night thinking nothing was going to happen, that somehow it was going to be a dissappointing Mother's day. We woke up today and can hear peeps under Mama hen. I can't believe it. She won't let us see them yet so I am not sure how many are hatched out of the eight that are under her. Good luck - just give Mother Nature time.

Thanks. I think maybe I miscalculated what day they are on. Aren't they supposed to be peeping from within the egg?
