Does anyone have any pics. of candled dunck eggs? This is day 7 for mine, and I'm not sure if I should see veins yet or not. I think all 8 eggs may not be fertile, but would like to see what others' eggs looked like at this point before I throw them out and start over.

Duck eggs seem to take a while to "get going"

You will probably only see spider webs at this point. Give another 4 or 5 days and it should be obvious.

Good luck.

look at the very top near the air cell you should be seeing veins starting to form near there. Mine are at 4 days and I am getting veins in all 6 that I set. You will be able to tell clear ones easily if they are white eggs. they will not have anything showing.

I don't really see any veins. I searched fpr pics. of candled duck eggs, and mine look more like the ones candled at 2 or 3 days. I'm thinking they started growing and then stopped.

I will give it a few more days and candle them again before deciding to discard them and maybe start over with another batch. My ducks just started laying, and aren't even a year old yet-----maybe I should wait until they're older?

I took some photos at day 7 for someone.

This is my none fertile duck egg

EDITED to say I went back and checked the post of when I used these eggs and they were day 7

My cochin bantam has just started laying and i have her second ever egg in the incubator at the moment and it is growing so they might be okay. Are the eggs a good colour for candling? Because if you can't see anything it could just be the candling conditions arn't great. I know when i hatched my muscovies there was multiple times i candled and could see hardly anything but in the end ended up with healthy ducklings.

Well, candled them this morning-----and positive they are not fertile. I cracked one open, and not fertile----luckily it didn't smell too bad! Guess I'll throw these out and start over.

Gofast, this is interesting. I can see the difference in that the non-fertile egg glows and the fertilized one has that obvious blob at the top. But in real life (vs. the pic that I am looking like) could you actually see spider veins at Day 7, or just a blob? Also, what color are the eggs?

Thanks,
Kathie
