Hi everyone, I'm new, I've been looking at a lot of threads on here throughout my incubation period.
I've got one chick "Mojo" that hatched successfully after no sign of life. I had another 2 chicken eggs which were moving loads but didn't hatch. I opened one up and it looked like it was shrink wrapped.
Now I've got two duck eggs, one pipped yesterday and I can see the beak. The other hadn't pipped, I candled it and thought I saw an internal pip. So I pipped the shell myself ....just a tiny hole on the air sack. Looking inside I cant see that it has internally pipped. Its moving and I've heard some squeeks. I have wet the internal membrane a little bit with a small soft paintbrush as it looked like it wa s a bit dry. Whenever I've opened the incubator I've put a paper towel soaked in hot water in there to keep the humidity up.
Is that the right thing to do? Should I do anything else? How long before the one that has pipped should hatch out?
This is my first try at incubating in a homemade incubator and I dont want to lose this duckling like I lost the other two chicks :/
Any advice gratefully received
