First time hatching. Need advice.

Well this hatch was a complete disappointment. Out of 12 eggs I have two chicks. 5 eggs did not develop. One died at lockdown. One died after pipping. The others I opened on day 25. Looks like they died one day into lockdown.

Aww, I'm so sorry! Hatches with shipped eggs are always more difficult. I'm glad you got a couple cuties out of it though!

Yeah, they are cute. One is from a blue birchen maran rooster and a olive egger hen which is a little fatty, twice the size of the other one. It is from a blue andalusian rooster and an easter egger hen. It thinks the other one is its mama, lol.

This is my first time trying to hatch chicks in a incubator. I bought some eggs and they arrived in 2 days bubble wrapped and double boxed. I let them sit in egg carton 24 hours and already had my incubator running for 10 days. It is now day 2. I have an autoturner. The question I have is the dark spot when you candle is that the yoke. If so mine is at the large end and moves when turned over.

Perhaps the most critical parameter is temperature – chicken eggs should be incubated at temperatures between 99 and 102 degrees Fahrenheit (99.5 is often considered ideal) and 50 to 65 percent relative humidity (60 percent is often considered ideal).
