So my neighbor has 6 coturnix quails that he picked up about a month ago at an auction. They started laying eggs right away and he just left them in the enclosure, outside, untouched wherever they were laid. He didn't want them so I took 3 out and stuck them in my incubator, just for fun. They are old eggs and feel paper thin. To my surprise, 2 of them have started to develop. Are quail eggs usually so thin? They feel brittle. Any chance that they will actually hatch??

If the shells are thin he's probably not feeding the parents correctly. Occasionally quail require supplemented calcium but typically won't if fed a proper game bird feed.

He's definitely not feeding them correctly. They get chicken scratch and bread. Do you think these eggs could make it to hatch?

They could, at this point just stay the course and keep your fingers crossed. Good luck!

Ok great! Thank you. I'm running 99.9 forced air and 40% humidity~dry. Sound ok? I have chicken eggs in the incubator due around the same time, since I put the quail in a few days later. Can they brood together?

Better if they didnt. Chickens can carry disease endemically, and therefore be born with it. Chickens have developed resistances to most poultry diseases but quail have none.
