First time hatching, WOW!🐣

Hi all I am doing my first hatch thank you for asking this as it’s what I am wondering at the moment. So even if we are in lock down I’m allowed to remove the chicks that have hatched and put them in the brooder?
Yes. That's when they hatch. I remove them to my Brooder once on their feet. Never a problem.

2 more hatched this afternoon, 1 is a serama. 13 total so far. 5 more eggs with no signs of piping. Bad news, I got an email today from Jeffers saying the Mareks vaccine that I ordered last Wednesday shipped today. I have Mareks in my my flock. I can’t say on this site how I feel about that. I told them my situation when I called to order the vaccine. I spoke to Ruth Jeffers today and although she’s been very nice it just doesn’t help the situation I’m in.

So sorry :( that’s very frustrating.

Also everyone I have a question I was reading a goose hatching guide and it says they should be incubated on their side- and someone said chicken eggs should be pointy side down???
I have them on their side is that bad!!?

That’s fine as long as you turn tem from day 1-18.

It depends on the turner, but my nurture right rolls them along on their side, my other two rock the cradle back and forth so they are fat end down, pointy end up, I have never seen anyone hatch with the pointy end down. maybe I misread this?

last year I had two incubators going, one with an automatic turner that held the eggs upright and a really old one with the eggs on their sides that I had to manually turn. Hatch rate was comparable, the self turning one was less ā€œworkā€ but the manual one allowed for better veiwing with candling.

15 chicks hatched from 22 put in the incubator. There are still 4 eggs in there that I am taking out some time today. 2 teeny tiny serama, 5 stripy chicks that I assume are longtails, the rest are yellow mostly Polish I think. Still no sign of the Mareks vaccine that I ordered last Wednesday from Jeffers.

Always pointy end down air cell is in the blunt round end and supposed to be up. But if they are in an incubator the doesn’t have racks to stand them up then Yes they stay on their sides

So, I opened the eggs that didn’t hatch. 3 were fully developed and looked perfect except for being dead. Can anyone help me with what went wrong?
