glad you have joined us.

You should visit the Learning Center, there are so many articles there to help you get started.

When I got my small flock I had also wanted EE's but didn't get them and have no personal experience with them. But would advise that should you let them range, build the fence tall - have witnessed how high those gals can fly.

Good luck in your planning, you are in for a wonderful adventure.

Hi and a big welcome to BYC - glad to have you onboard. You have exciting times ahead for sure!

Glad you joined us at Backyard chickens. You can always build a run with a top, to keep wanderers safely at home. The coops section and the predator threads will be a good fountain of knowledge before you get your birds in the spring. You may also want to join the "Illinois state thread."
