First time incubating. EGGS ARE SET! DAY 19, LOCKDOWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

I have to admit that I do also add eggs after I have all ready had some in the incubator, but not usually over two at a time, and then I have to mark them and be sure they are not part of the bunch I'm hatching in a special incubator.
I just added one today, it was from a special Black Silkie hen, her first egg and she isn't with a roo even, I separated her from him a few days ago.
Just to be safe I added it in, hoping that I might get at least one chick from her this yr.
I have no good place to keep chicks in the cold weather so this will be my last egg set this yr. [yea right!]
I only have 5 in there now........a friend gave me a handful of "surprise" eggs, I have a feeling the are Buff Polish but who knows!!!
They are due to hatch the 15th

im going by what someone I met at a swap told me to do for having both eggs in the incubator, I also got a nice big calender and mark the eggs to make sure I know WHEN each egg needs to stop being turned, and on the part of bacteria and stuff and hatching, I got a egg turner so When one row of eggs is done for turning I slip the thing out and lay them on the bottom, but if ya'll dont think that will work, would it work if I just finish my homemade bator enough that the temp and humidty stays put for the last few days of the hatch?

also. My temp downed to 97.5 while I was asleep. it had to only be for 2-4 hours though. But should I be worried about that???? its back up now though to 100.5

The temp drop shouldn't hurt if it doesnt happen a lot. I would finish the other bator and use it for a hatcher. It's heart-breaking to watch your little ones develop and then lose them at the end. I know from experience.

I just wouldn't take the chance. And you have time to finish the other bator. (just my 2 cents)

I'd finish your homemade incubator and try and use that as a hatcher.

I incubate eggs that have different hatch dates all the time together but I move them out to a hatcher to hatch. Chicks hatching can make a mess and I've never wanted my others eggs that were still incubating to be contaminated by it. Taking out a turner row will not keep the chicks from crawling all over the remaining eggs.

I've never tried ducks and chickens together because they take different conditions to incubate as far as humidity goes.

Note to first timers. The day you put eggs in is DAY Zero, not day one. It's a mistake many make and then freak when they hatch "late". Day one is AFTER one whole day.

Good luck all, I set more today...

Ditto to everything Kary just said,
and an update on my own eggs......the storm knocked out the electric most of the night last night and I checked the temp in the bator and it was 85 and lower and stayed there a LONG time before the electric came back on, I am sure unhappy.....I wanted so bad to hatch these "surprise" chicks.
I know they are warm again this AM and am going to try and candle them later tonight. They are getting so full though that it might be hard to tell..they should hatch the 16th.
Say a prayer, cross your fingers or what ever you can do to help the little babies.
Thanks Silkielovr
