First-time incubating! Janoel 12 & Black Copper Maran - Will update!

Good to know! I'll do that from now on... I went to candle them today...didn't see anything knew... But it's only day 2. Hehehe. Here's hoping Day 7 or 8 candling will be MAGICAL!
On my day 7 candle last week I had one that seems to be a ham. It didn't zoom away where I could barely glimpse but just kept bobbing and swimming back near the shell so me and my daughter could see it really clearly. It was amazing. I hope you get a showboat in yours too.

I gave in, Aphrael... It's only day six, and I candled... ... ... I was hoping for a showboat... ... ... .... And...

...AND I CAN TOTALLY SEE THE TINY LITTLE THING! Some of the eggs were just too dark, but there were a couple in particular.

IT WAS SOOOO COOL! It looked like a tiny little bean in the center of a veiny mass. It as an awesome sight! I'm pretty sure I was detecting some movement, unless somehow I wasn't holding it as still as I thought. I could totally see a growing chick inside one of them! What's surprising was, it was one of the darker eggs. I just had to turn off all the lights so it was pitch black!

I am not sure if was "swimming and bobbing" but it was good enough for me! I am so thrilled!

That is awesome!! It never gets old getting to see them. I just put 51 eggs into lockdown. So hopefully I'll be having bouncing fluffies soon.

UPDATE: Two of the eight eggs are lacking any sign of development. No veining or anything at all, but I am going to go ahead and keep them in the incubator. The shells are dark enough that I am not completely confident with taking them out.

Six eggs are clearly developed and less than a week away from hatching, hopefully! They will be going into lockdown on Dec 2nd. It is getting harder to see the vein masses. Instead, more than half of the eggs look completely dark when candled. I hope this is because there are thriving babies inside!

Scary update, though... I went downstairs to check on the incubator and saw that the lid was partially lifted. I had put a shot glass of water inside, along the edge, to keep humidity up. But it seems that, because of how the egg turner works, it pushed against the shot glass. Since there was no room, the turner must have ended up shifting the lid. They were sitting at 95 degrees, so I am hoping I did not do any serious damage before adjusting the cover. They all felt very warm and some movement could be detected, so I think I'm OK and found them just in time.
