. I'm due for my new batch to hatch on March 18, though I don't have the awesome ducklings.

Hatching buddies!

I'm a lurker on this thread but on Feb. 21 early morning I put 14 bantum eggs in my new incubator. My very first time. Well last night I candled them and I not only see progress but movement! I'm so excited. I wasn't sure about this whole process, the more I read the more I get discouraged that soooo many things can go wrong. While they still can, I was pleasantly surprised at seeing a good number of tiny moving creatures in my eggs.

Congratulations on the movement

.I think the more you look up up and know, the better you will be at handling all the bad things should they crop up. So you're doing a good job.

Well after loosing power at 3:30 am untill 10:30am I was very nervous if any of the eggs survived. Today is day 8 and we candled the 7 remaing eggs (1 acidently broke 1 on day 2) 6 were showing dark masses at the tops of the eggs and 1 was totaly clear. we chucked the clear egg and now the experimant is down to 6. Temp has been holding well and humidity has ranged between 25%-54% so it will be good to see how it all works before I buy expensive hatching eggs.

Hi, just read the whole thread and wanted to thank Colorful for starting it and all of you for sharing your hatching experiences. I have a first hatch ever coming up. I will be setting 6+ Dorking and Dorking mix eggs as well as several from our mix roo and our Australorp and Delaware girls.

The plan is to set them on the 5th or 6th so that they will hatch around the same time as the little ones I have on order arrive

I am really excited but nervous...I so want those Dorkings and a roo from our own eggs.

I may be OOT when the eggs arrive. What are the instructions I should leave with my husband re letting them rest?

skookumchuck. good luck with the rest of your experiment!

If you set on the 6th you can participate in the easter hatch a long.
With shipped eggs you should let them sit for 24 hours allowing them to come to room temperature without any turning. Keep them in an egg carton. Also before setting, I candle, checking air cells, for cracks etc.
