hope they hatch out for you. I had the power go out in an incestorm and the temps dropped down to about 40 for 8-10 hrs. We had to go into town and stay at the inlaws. I left the incubator plugged in and we ended up hatching 5 out of 6 eggs on I think quit developing as a result of the poweroutage the rest all made it about 1 day late.

ok so im new an not sure what excatley we are looking at an dont know if im under standing this check egg thing,so please help me,are you guys saying, after 12 days that the chicken or turkey layed her eggs, check them with a light,an se if there is any life,in them if there isnt then i should take them out,of nest,i dont under stand how they become infected,my turkey hasnt started to sit just yet,but she is turning the eggs,so she is tending the eggs,im not sure of the activity, that i should be looking for this is my first year

You know, I'm on day 22. Last night I candelled and discarded three eggs. Because they were was too much space in them. Comparing to the other three. Two out of the three that are left in there I've candelled again this am. And they are so full the only thing visible is the air sac. There is no movement at all. But then saying that I have never seen any ever. Just growth. I've decided to drop the humidity until I see a peep. As I have seen one of the eggs rocking like mad yesterday and today. Although I keep thinking its vibrations from the fan. But the fan has never made them do that before. So it must be movement from in the egg. Has anyone heard of the float test? And how it's done? I'm down to two eggs that may just hatch. It's so frustrating. I have eggs waiting to go in. And I don't know what to do for the best. Any ideas?

if she is still laying intothe nest and not sitting yet there will be no development. Once she starts setting then the eggs develop. good luck with your hatch.

Has anyone ever tried using straw in an incubator? If you get the temps perfect as I'm wanting to try this new batch dryish at about 40% as my room humidity is at 30% and I can really get it higher. I still want to try lower because I think my last lot was too high and never made it. Another problem I found is the incubators surface is very flat and found it hard to hold the eggs in place. So I'm checking the temps thoroughly before I set them. I was going to use egg cartons but I'm not sure. Any ideas?
