Adorable! He looks like he was scolded and sent to the corner...lol
I haven't found anything solid. I have found a girl somewhat locally that has some showgirls and she'll sell me some eggs, the only thing is, is all of her birds are in together and she doesn't seperate them out for breeding so if I buy from her I have a chance of getting some showgirls, but I have a chance of ending up with other barnyard mixes and no showgilrs too. She does have some frizzles/sizzles so I might get to add a new type to my flock, but I really want showgirls. If I don't find someone locally with showgirl/silkies seperated out to breed then I will probably get a couple dozen from her just to add a new blood line and then look into buying some showgirl chicks this spring/summer.As it turns out, he is a rooster! Very pretty red with white tail feathers. I'm not sure about the others yet, but he is getting his roosterish qualities very quickly. His wattles are huge already.
And, what do you know? All this hanging out in the "Incubating & Hatching" thread, I had another 2 hatch 2 weeks ago, and I just put 36 more eggs in the incubator on Saturday. 7 of them are Lavender Ameraucana from a breeder here on BYC. I'm very excited about those. They are very hard to find around my neck of the woods.
AmyLynn your Easter hatch is coming up and will be here before you know it. I know you're excited about that.Have you found any Showgirl eggs yet?![]()
Wow! That's a lot of roosters! Sounds like my luck.I haven't found anything solid. I ended up with 7 roos out of 12 from the last hatch, (pretty sure, a couple are still iffy) and 4 of them are already crowing. (They are now 11, almost 12 weeks) One started at 7 weeks...lol The other three have been going for the last week and a halfish. Of course I get the early crowers. My sis was supposed to come get the 5 boys I'm not keeping but she hasn't made it out here yet.
Glad to see that you are feeling better and back in the addiction...lol I've been dying to set more, but I am being good,
Mumble ended up being a girl though so we changed her name to Lucy...lol. The pure white one is a girl, one of the polish/silkies and one of the silkies and I think the other naked neck is a girl. That's the iffy one. It's a start. At least I got some girls and tehy weren't all roos....lol Just gives me an excuse for more hatches....lolWow! That's a lot of roosters! Sounds like my luck.
I can have roos, but I don't have enough girls to have more than a couple roos in the coop, so that means the rest has to go. Not an easy thing cause it's hard to pick just two when you have as many awesome roos as I have. Out of the 7 roos that hatched I really like 5 of them....lol I still have one I think is a hen that still might turn out to be a roo. Those darn peacombs are so hard to tell!I'm worried about all kinds of things with my hatch and I haven't even got my eggs yet! What if I get Roos, how do I tell they are Roos? I can't have Roos here just hens, so I have to rehome them.
